Can drinking a lot of water help reduce acne breakouts?

If you drink a lot of water, can it help reduce the number and severity of breakouts you get? I don't think it would stop it all together, but I've read that water is important in keeping your skin healthy, so I was wondering if increasing your water intake would help acne. I don't get a ton of breakouts, but I have keratosis pilaris so my skin has a hard time getting rid of the dead skin so it clogs my pores and I sometimes get a couple to a few cystic pimples on my face. I know that water alone isn't going to get rid of my keratosis pilaris, but do you think it would be at all helpful with my breakouts? Only serious responses because this is something I find to be embarrassing enough as it is and I would just like to hear helpful information at this point. Thanks. :)

Hydrating your body will certainly help clear up your skin. If you are having a problem with dead skin on your face, try a sensitive skin exfoliate (the kind with little beads in the cream) to help remove that. If your skin can't breath due to dead skin not being removed, that can be part of your problem. Hope this helps!
Reply:yes it can help! drinking lots of water is a way to detoxify your system of impurities. also healthy fruits and veggies help your complexion.
Reply:Yes, it will defintely help. But, you will not see improvements immediately. It will take 30-45 days but your skin will be noticeably improved.
Reply:Yep. When your body has enough water it is more efficient at flushing toxins -that contribute to acne breakouts- out of your body. But be careful what kind of water you are drinking. Much of the tap water these days is loaded with chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals, which will actually make your skin worse. If this is the case where you live buy a good quality bottled spring water or steam distilled water instead. Doesn't have to cost a lot either. Walmart's house brand of distilled water is only $0.66 a gallon.
Reply:I BELIEVE THAT DRINKING WATER AND STAYING AWAY FROM SUGARY DRINKS WOULD BE A GOOD START.

I ALSO HEAR THAT VITAMIN A AND E COULD HELP SKIN PROBLEMS. DO YOU USE A GOOD FACIAL SCRUB-TRY TO USE ONLY NATURAL PRODUCTS LIKE KISS MY FACE OR BURTS BEES.
Reply:Drinking a lot of water regularly helps you to flush out toxins.Include green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. Avoid deep fried snacks.More details at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
