Is it necessary to go to the dermatologist? What are some OTC treatments? What are some prescription treatments?
What has worked best for you? What hasn't?
What are some treatments for Keratosis Pilaris?
The most common prescription treatment is Retin A cream or alpha-hydroxy acid. This helps gets rid of the keratinized caps that form on top of the skin (the actual bumps) and temporarily smooth out the skin.
The OTC remedies are exfoliating cream and intensive moisturizers. I've also heard that milk bath products (liquids or powders you mix in with bath water) seem to help.
My daughter and I both have this problem, and don't take prescription meds for it... It's not very severe but troubling none the less. Vaseline Intensive Care is the best I've found.
Best wishes and good luck!
