I basically have a lot of acne on my upper arms and some scars. It's so embarrassing to wear anything sleeveless or a t-shirt with this condition I have.
Does anyone know something cheap/affordable to get rid of it?
What do I do about keratosis pilaris?
Keratosis pilaris is a disorder of keratinization in which horny plugs fill the openings of hair follicles.
There is currently no known cure for keratosis pilaris. Moisturizing lotions are often soothing and may help the appearance of the skin. Topical treatment with medications containing urea, lactic acid, Retin A (tretinoin), or vitamin D may be recommended by your physician. However, improvement often takes months and recurrence is likely.
Please see the web pages for more details on Keratosis pilaris.
Reply:unfortunately, you can't get rid of it. i've had it my whole life along with eczema. it does tend to get annoying when people ask me what's wrong with my arms and if i have chicken pox, but i've learned to get used to it. just wear sleeveless shirts anyways :) you want to surround yourself with people that will be there for you no matter what your appearance is. my friends don't mind when i have my eczema rashes on my neck, face, legs, etc. and it makes me feel a lot better about it.
