I bought chinese medicine to fight the flushing in my cheeks in the winter. Is it safe and is it a con?

The people who work there recommended it to me, and she appeared to have no redness whatsoever. I think I have Keratosis Pilaris, but I just want the redness to go down. Many thanks for any answers I receive. Is this a con, or will it work? I have to take 20 PILLS in the morning and 20 at night, and also put some cream on.

I bought chinese medicine to fight the flushing in my cheeks in the winter. Is it safe and is it a con?
Chinese medicine ( especially acupunture ) really works. The problem is : in western world can you really tell if a so-called Chinese herbalist is genuine or a con ? There are many people who had never been trained but act as familiar with Chinese herbal medicine and even prescript to any patients. On the other hand , there are really some who attended the universities in China and learn about herbal healing.

It's hard to tell but if your pills are made purely of herbs, not the western one made in a lab, it could be that you have to take 40 a day to take effect.

People don't understand Chinese medicine will think it's scary to take 40 pills a day but I'd seen 2 examples of people using Chinese medicine.

First one was a Russian guy, I met him years ago when I lived and worked in Hammersmith. He was a bald head and this made him very upset cause he's only 25 years old. He saw an ad about acupunture which could cure hair loss, he tried a few sessions, ( very expensive indeed, £25 per session of 30 minutes in 1997 ) but after a few sessions, his hair started to grow. I haven't seen him for a few year now but the last time I saw him half of his skull was covered with hair.

The second one was a friend of me who fell down from the stair at his 2 floor house. He dislocated his shoulder and was in great pain. He went to accident %26amp;emergency, they prescripted some ointment for him and told him no casting was needed as it wasn't broken. 10 days later he was still in pain. One day he passed by a Chinese herbalist shop and out of curiosity he went in, and ended up bringing home 3 bags of herbal medicines and pills and cream stuffs. He paid £40 at the time (2004), he took the medicine as instructed, 2 days later all pain gone and he's back at work.

So you see Chinese medicine really works but it depends on your luck if you meet a real herbalist or a con.
Reply:complete con
Reply:A con. Like all alternative medicine. If it works, it 'aint alternative, if it don't, it 'aint medicine!
Reply:I think you should have thought about asking that before you actually bought it hun! Seriously though, some Chinese herbal remedies are supposed to work, but I think sometimes they just act like a placebo effect! However, 40 pills plus cream a day does sound totally excessive and I think if you have to take that many things, then it sounds like a bit of a con! Do you really want to be taking that many tablets all winter?
Reply:in 1900 the average life expectancy in China was 30 - so their ancient medicines must be pretty sh1t
Reply:That sounds like way too many pills to take. As far as the product being safe you would have to know what is in the product. Some of the herbs and supplements that are sold today can cause you to have health problems. Check out the website for this product and see what it contains.
Reply:40 PILLS A DAY? you've been bamboozled
Reply:I go to a chinese herbalist for IBS and allergies- it has changed my life! I have to take a lot of pills as well but I've never felt or looked better in my life. If you've already bought the herbs and cream- try it out for a while. Photograph yourself to keep track of your progress. Best of luck!
Reply:This is a complete con matie! I suggest that you go and speak to your GP and mention that this is causing you significant concern. He/She will only be too happy to help and look at prescribing appropriate treatments. You could be putting yourself at considerable danger by taking quack medications.

Is a milk bath just milk?

I wanna get a milk bath for my arms that have keratosis pilaris so is a milk bath just milk or do u need to add something to it?

Is a milk bath just milk?
You fill your bathtub up with water. Use powdered milk to add to the water. You are not wanting to have 100% milk, even when using liquid milk you are 'adding' it to the bath water.

You then add different things. Mostly for scent or enhancements like honey, lavender, sea salt, oatmeal, etc... or by adding oils.

It should help renew your skin tissue quicker, and also exfoliate and soften your skin.
Reply:????????????????????????????????????????...
Reply:I don't think a milk bath is just milk. I'm sure there are some ingredients in there to help your skin.
Reply:What you would do is just add milk to your bath.

I don't think a tub full of milk would be as cost effective as a relatively inexpensive cream.
Reply:Not just any milk will do, you have to get the milk of a hundred hummingbirds.
Reply:A milk bath is just what it says it is, but add chocolate syrup and it is a party.
Reply:I imagine a whole bathtub full of milk would be expensive buying all that milk...

I think you would just add the milk to a regular bath. I also heard some celebrity would add a bottle of merlot wine to her bath because red wine is good antioxidant or something and also mud baths are supposed to be good for your skin.
Reply:steal about 15-20 milk bottles in he early morning from your neighbours %26amp; your sorted! ;)

What could this thing on my eye have been?

I'm not trying to be gross or make a joke, but about a month ago I noticed I had this tiny little white bump under my eyebrow, just above the crease of my eye. I thought maybe it was just a pimple, but when I tried to squeeze it nothing would come out and it wasn't red or painful so I left it alone.

I then thought maybe it was just a little skin tag (I get them other places from time to time and just cut them off.) so I left it alone to see what would happen.

Then about a week ago I was rubbing my eyes and I decided I'd had enough of the little bump, and I started scratching at it pretty vigorously, and when I did that, some little hard, white thing came out of it. It didn't bleed except for a tiny drop, and it hasn't come back at all.

What could that have been?? I also have Keratosis pilaris a little bit on my arms. I was wondering if it had anything to do with that?? Sorry if I've grossed you out.

What could this thing on my eye have been?

PLEASE HELP: Home Microdermabrasion kits?

I want to invest in one and noticed the Shoppers Drug Mart has its own brand and I am wondering if anyone has tried it. Can it be used on your arms and legs? I was originally going to get the Loreal one, but then decided on the Neutrogena one because it has a hand held thingy. Does the scrubber make the microdermabrasion better than without? I really don't want to spend $60 on a kit if it is going ot be crap. The Life Brand is only 14.99 on sale this Sat and has same ingredients as Loreal and others. What should I do please help :)

It would mainly be used on my arms. I have mild keratosis pilaris and want to wear short sleeves for summer and hoping this will help :(

PLEASE HELP: Home Microdermabrasion kits?
I'm flawless so I dont know how to help you I have perfect skin good luck though
Reply:Hi there,

I wouldn't buy the Life kit... it's not a reliable brand and you dont know what's in the products and you might get break outs and irritations. Buy a more popular brand, like Neutrogena or Loreal, they are not expensive and have a lot of consumer coverage online, so you know what to expect. When it comes to your skin, money shouldn't be such an issue.

Hope this helps.

Which foundation to use?

I have keratosis pilaris on my face, which makes my cheeks really bumpy and red.

imagine: permanent goosebumps on your face, and constantly blushing.

does anyone have any foundation that works for covering this up? or just convering up really red blotchy skin helps too.

anyone else have kp?

ideas for making it less noticable.

really, any help is helpful.

also. concealer for acne scars on my chin, around my mouth?

thank you so much!

Which foundation to use?
go to any ulta, sephora, macy's, or nordstrom store %26amp; try out bare minerals by bare escentuals, to see, how this make-up works for you, before spending any money. i love it, it evens out the skintone, my daughter uses it to cover her acne.
Reply:Sheer coverage.
Reply:You should try "get even" by Benefit. It is actually a powder but when using it over your foundation, you will find that it has excellent coverage. It's great for red and blotchy skin.
Reply:Bare Minerals covers everything, the foundation acts as a concealer, you just use a different brush. It lasts all day and one pot of product lasts almost a year. It rocks. Get it at Ulta, or go try it ASAP. I love this stuff. Covers my sun spots, red broken capilaries, and anything else that happens.
Reply:I use bare essentials..... it loves my skin and my skin looks healthier today than it has ever been....
Reply:Try puritycosmetics.co.uk. It is made from natural ingredients and makes your skin look great!

I need Fashion advice!?

Ok . I am getting ready to go on a school trip and its starting to get HOT out. I have a LONG upper body and i am curvy ALL over. Well i also have keratosis polaris so i need help. What can i ware thats COOL(like not to hot) that wont make people say WOW she is HUGE and make them stare at my arms. I know i shouldent care what people think but its the way i am. Dose any one have ANY advice on clothing for a chubby long upper body girl?

I need Fashion advice!?
trust me I have large upper arms to. Try a self tanner (tanning makes any one look slimmer then I suggest wearing tank tops with a cover up-whether shear or light fabric. The thicker the material the bigger you'll look. Make sure the cover-up covers your butt too-shrugs work awesome.
Reply:these are all good for arms

Reply:Baggy Pants and ummm... a T?
Reply:well. If you can shop online try Torrid.com they have really cute clothes in slightly bigger sizes, and they are longer than normal clothes.

I have to admit, they are a little pricy but not anymore than anywhere in a mall. Good Luck

Oh, and dont wear bigger clothes than you need. wear YOUR size, other wise you'll look bigger than you really are.
Reply:Even though wearing white is much more cooler [as in temperature] than dark colors, dark colors tend to hide chubbiness. A tank usually is nice, maybe even a high halter top- but stick with navy or like colors. =]
Reply:Wear a bigger shirt that have light color
Reply:well, first of all, be proud of who u are and your body type because everyone is special i there own ways. and as for the fashion part......for the type of weather you descrbed, some bermuda shorts qould be cute alng with a short/medium cute top. make sure that the shorts are denim(if you don't have a school uniform), and the top can be your favorite color or a color that best defines your skin tone.
Reply:For the keratosis pilaris - use a lotion w/ glycolic or lactic acid to reduce the bumps. (ex. Lac Hydrin)

oldnavy.com carries plus size clothes. Consider wearing a short or 3/4 sleeve cotton t-shirt. The store also has 100% cotton blouses that might be suitable.
